Treis was responsible for the development and integration of a
control system for pointing an antenna mounted to a
fast-moving ground vehicle. The narrow beam-width required
very precise calculation and control of the antenna look angle
in order to maintain the communication link with the satellite.
This system included open-loop pointing, closed-loop
acquisition of the satellite signal, and precise calculation of
instantaneous satellite location based upon ephemeris data.
The software was developed for cross-platform usage, but was
primarily targeted for embedded Linux for use on both the
Block 1 and Block 2 systems.
